The following recipe is very simple and can be stirred up in minutes. Be sure to collect a local, flavoursome honey, but not heather honey; savour its delicious flavour in solitude on a homemade scone.
HONEY MUSTARD SAUSAGES
For 1kg/2lb sausages
Tastes divine and makes a gourmet meal of even the most basic bangers. Try this baste on barbeque for any other meats, too. I used hearty wholegrain mustard, but a delicate Dijon would also work. Stir any leftover sauce into a mayonnaise for spreading on sandwiches.
Fry, bake or barbeque as usual (1kg/2lb sausage)
Whilst the sausages are cooking stir together in a small bowl
3 tbsp runny honey
3 tbsp prepared mustard
juice from half a lemon
Taste and adjust the mixture
During the last 5 minutes of cooking baste the sausages with the honey mustarfd until thoroughly cooked and sticky.
