British Black Bee in Dartmoor
I recently joined the British Black Bee Association in order to help re-establish
the pure line of the British Black Bee. As a pure line it was considered nearly exterminated by the Isle of Wight disease a decade or so ago. However they
discovered a few pockets of the Black Bee in Cornwall & the Isle of Colonsay
in Scotland & started to help reproduce a new pure line under protection.
There are a few established swarms in the Tamar Valley, in Mount Edgecumbe
which is on the border between Cornwall & Devon.
So now I have the opportunity to establish the British Black Bee on Dartmoor.
I'm very pleased to be able to do this & look forward to keeping you updated
on the progress of my work
