A day in Peter's life: autumn style on Dartmoor

I am getting behind with my beekeeping,I only have help from one person each Monday, and time flies.

We are busy cutting comb for Christmas. I am also trying to stop the Varroa treatments from each hive. Indeed I have to treat for Varroa when the queen is not laying eggs, however with the very mild weather and huge quantity of ivy blossom available the bees are still hunting nectar and encouraging the queen to lay. When the weather cools down then I put on the mouse guards to prevent mice creeping into the hives and feeding both on honey and sleepy bees!!

I'll keep you posted!
