Springing into honey making

The last three weeks has been amazing from the weather point of view. Bees have been busy collecting both pollen and nectar from celandine ,sycamore,gorse and dandelion. I have been extracting some of this to make beautiful Spring Honey, Dandelions makes an excellent strong flavoured honey.

The swarming season looms one of the most challenging and wonderful times for beekeepers. There seem to be lots of bumblebees around this year with the odd orange tip butterfly. It's a very special time of year.
